THE NEW PARADIGM, NEW UKRAINE AND THE NEW WORLD
Participants and guests of the conference were proposed to answer the following question: Can Ukraine play an important role in shaping the new paradigm of development
English was the only official language of the event and in that way this conference was a unique one. About 1000 people came to the Ukrainian House to listen to the distinguished well-known speakers. The most impressive thing was that young people were an absolute
Prominent foreign and national scientists, politicians and activists shared their views on world development and Ukraine’s role in it. Among them we should mention Honorary President of the World Academy of Art and Science Ivo Slaus, Chief Executive Officer of the World Academy of Art and Science Garry Jacobs, Secretary General of the World University Consortium Alberto Zucconi, public person and philanthropist Bohdan Hawrylyshyn.
The conference consisted of two different panels: “The State of the World and Need for the New Paradigm” and “Can Ukraine Help the World?” The first part was opened by foreign guests, whereas the second one was represented by Ukrainian speakers: historian Yaroslav Hrytsak, public figure Myroslav Marynovych, former Minister for Foreign Affairs Volodymyr Ogrysko. Energetic and vigorous 88-year old Bohdan Hawrylyshyn acted as the conference chairman and moderator.
IMPRESSIONS
- Living in Ukraine and focusing our attention only on ourselves, we often lose sight of the global context, latest developments in the world, current trends and prospects for the next 10-15 years. I came here to get better understanding of both nowadays and future trends, to listen to the people who are driving the world and shaping the trends. Moreover, Bohdan Hawrylyshyn is one of the greatest Ukrainians, one of those few people who are driving this world and whose activity is unfortunately underestimated by those in power in Ukraine.
- This is not the first time I visit the events organized by Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Charitable Foundation. This is a truly unique conference participated by truly unique people. It’s highly important to raise questions not only about the transformation of Ukraine, but also about the transformation of the world and Ukraine’s role in it. We are always waiting for someone’s help. Instead we should think over the ways in which we can help the world. In this regards, as it was mentioned here, people should be taken as an asset, and not as a resource.
- Nowadays such events are extremely important for Ukraine, and especially for its young people who should also work on better future for their country. We can do little only by ourselves. As young people we have plenty of will, energy and initiative, but we should also get some advice and practical tips from our more experienced colleagues.
